SIGMA THETA
TAU INTERNATIONAL
MU PSI – AT LARGE CHAPTER
Queens University – Charlotte, North Carolina
Gardner Webb –
Boiling Springs, North Carolina
September 2006
Note from the President:
Greetings! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer. We have a lot of
exciting things going on in our chapter not the least of which was the
induction of 47 new members this past April. The joint chapter research
luncheon in April was a huge success and Frieda Price, chapter vice
president files her report on that in this newsletter.
We held
elections this past spring for the 2006-2008 officers and Susan Vaughn was
named the President-Elect (because yours truly is now the President!) In
fact, Susan will be attending the Chapter
Leader
Academy at the International Headquarters in
Indianapolis,
IN
at the end of September. All of the officers are listed in this newsletter
and on the chapter website for your information.
Our
Fall Meeting is coming up on September 28, 2006 and Linda Wines, our other
chapter vice president has an article about that in this newsletter as well.
Please join us that evening for a wonderful and inspiring story of one
person’s experiences serving in the
Gulf
Coast area after Hurricane Katrina. It will be an awesome
evening and a light dinner will be provided as well.
As
always, we welcome your participation in chapter events and look forward to
seeing you at the Fall Meeting.

Day
In the
midst of construction clanking and clatter, 130 attendees heard
Polly Johnston, Executive Director of the
North Carolina
State Board of
Nursing, speak on preparing for nursing competency regulations and
requirements. On
April 3, 2006
at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, Mu Psi Chapter,
with Gamma Iota and Mu Alpha Chapters, sponsored the Sigma Theta Tau
Research Luncheon and Lecture - "Don't Practice in the Dark!" Also, on
display were seventeen poster presentations with abstracts. This was the
first collaboration by the chapters to present an educational program of
this type. Not only did participants enjoy a great lunch, all attendees
received 1.6 contact hours of continuing education and a great opportunity
to network with colleagues. We look to make this an annual event so look
for more information to come!
